“Everything is for the eye these days - TV, Life, Look, the movies. Nothing is just for the mind. The next generation will have eyeballs as big as cantaloupes and no brain at all.”

Life has become nothing more than finding the easiest path that requires the least work and engagement . How sad.

I wonder what percentage of our fellow citizens under 40 pay no attention to the news and also don’t care enough to vote...

I’m afraid we e’re handing our nation over to the motivated fringes.

That kind of defines the human condition.

Tired of killing your dinner with a rock in your hand? Tie the rock to a stick! Rock on a stick not easy enough? Use this bow to launch the rock on the stick from several yards away!. Rock not killing fast enough? Try this new sharpened metal arrow! And so on....

Sure, this means that future generations won’t engage the world in the same way as you, but that leaves them free to find new ways to apply their time.

The problem isn’t that the under-40s don’t pay attention to the news, it’s that the under-40s get their news from Facebook. Facebook is nothing more than social engineering and I refuse to take part, nor do I allow my children to take part.

Right now, all my kids engage in are video games. Granted, there is at least some social interaction with their friend across town, but it’s not the same. At least to this old fogey.

I’m on Facebook to keep in touch with distant family and old friends, but I can’t imagine it being my source for news . Honestly, these days Facebook seems to be populated by people my age or older - very few who are in college or just out.

No, it isn’t the same. Things are changing all the time, and seemingly faster than ever before. That doesn’t automatically mean they’re better or worse, just that they have a different set of benefits and challenges.

I’m only piping up because I get sick of hearing the various themes of “The world is going to crap because of the kids!”

Unfortunately, a few of my relatives do little more than post memes, most of them politically themed. I’ve had a ignore a few.
